How to Find Your Device’s MAC Address

🔍 What Is a MAC Address?

A MAC (Media Access Control) address is a unique identifier for your device's network interface card. IT teams often need this to allow or restrict device access on a network.

🎮 Game Consoles

🟩 Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One

Step 1: Open the Settings menu
Step 2: Navigate to → General → Network Settings
Step 3: Select Advanced Settings

Your Wired MAC Address and Wireless MAC Address will be displayed on the right-hand side.

🟦 PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4

Step 1: Go to Settings
Step 2: Select → System → System Software → Console Information

You’ll see MAC Address (LAN) and MAC Address (Wi-Fi) listed on this screen.

🔴 Nintendo Switch

Step 1: From the Home screen, go to System Settings
Step 2: Select Internet → Internet Settings
Step 3: Choose your active network and scroll down

The MAC Address is displayed near the bottom of the page.

📺 Smart TVs

📡 Samsung Smart TV

Step 1: Press the Home button on the remote
Step 2: Go to → Settings → General → Network
Step 3: Choose Network Status

Select Network Information and your MAC Address will appear at the bottom.

🖥️ LG Smart TV (webOS)

Step 1: Press the Settings (gear) button
Step 2: Navigate to → Network → Wi-Fi Connection or Wired Connection
Step 3: Select Advanced Settings

Look for MAC Address listed below connection details.

📺 Roku TV

Step 1: Press the Home button → Go to Settings
Step 2: Navigate to → Network → About

You’ll see both the Wireless MAC Address and the Wired MAC Address.

🔥 Amazon Fire TV

Step 1: From the Home screen, go to Settings
Step 2: Navigate to → My Fire TV → About → Network

The MAC Address will be listed under network details.

🪟 Windows (10/11)

Step 1: Open the Command Prompt

Press Windows Key + R
Type cmd and press Enter

Step 2: Run the IP Configuration Command

In the Command Prompt window, type:

ipconfig /all

Step 3: Locate Your MAC Address

Look for "Physical Address" under your active network adapter (e.g., Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
Format: XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX (e.g., 00-1A-2B-3C-4D-5E)

🍎 macOS (Ventura and newer)

Step 1: Open System Settings

Click the Apple Menu () → System Settings
Go to Network

Step 2: Select Your Network Interface

Click Wi-Fi or Ethernet (whichever you use)
Click the Advanced button
Click the Hardware Tab

Step 3: Find Your MAC Address

Look for the "MAC Address" field
Format: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

📱 iPhone – Find the MAC Address (Even with Private Addressing)

To locate the MAC address your iPhone uses when connecting to the Hotchkiss-Registered network:

Open the Settings App.
Tap Wi-Fi.
Locate the Hotchkiss-Connect network in the list.
- If you've previously tried connecting, it will appear under My Networks.
Tap the ⓘ info icon next to Hotchkiss-Connect.
On the next screen, you'll see:
- Private Wi-Fi Address: A toggle switch (if enabled, iOS generates a unique MAC address per network).
- Wi-Fi Address: This is the MAC address being used for this network. It looks like A1:B2:C3:D4:E5:F6.
- ⚠️ Note: Even if private addressing is on, this is the actual MAC the network sees.
To use your device's real hardware MAC address instead:
- Toggle Private Wi-Fi Address off.
- Disconnect and reconnect to Hotchkiss-Connect.
- A prompt may appear: tap Rejoin to reconnect using the real MAC address.
After reconnecting, the Wi-Fi Address field will now show your true MAC address.

🤖 Android – Find the MAC Address (Randomized or Real)

To find the MAC address your Android phone is using on the Hotchkiss-Registered network:

Open the Settings App.
Tap Network & Internet (or Connections, depending on device).
Tap Wi-Fi.
Connect to or tap on Hotchkiss-Connect (must have attempted to connect at least once).
Tap the gear icon ⚙️ or info icon ⓘ next to the network name.
Scroll to find:
- MAC address or Wi-Fi MAC address – this shows the MAC currently being used.
- Privacy or MAC address type – this setting tells you whether the phone is using:
  - Randomized MAC
  - Phone MAC (the hardware MAC address)
To use your real hardware MAC address:
- Tap Privacy or MAC address type.
- Select Use device MAC or Phone MAC.
- Disconnect and reconnect to Hotchkiss-Connect.
After reconnecting, the listed MAC address is now your actual physical MAC.
